Data Sets
The Fact of Death (FOD) data that underpins the Australian Death Check (ADC) service is available for death registration records from the year 2000. FOD data is available in the ADC from all Australian state and territory Registries of Births, Deaths and Marriages (RBDM). The FOD data is updated on a daily basis with new registrations being added, and existing registrations being ‘updated’ following amendments to the registration, as supplied by the relevant state or territory RBDM to the Australian Coordinating Registry (ACR).

Default Data Sets
The following data sets (1-6) are assigned to all Data Service Brokers within the Australian Death Check.
Where a match is found, each data set will return the data items searched on (e.g. surname, given names, etc.), and additional reference fields of: the ACR number (ACR), state of registration (STATE) and the date of death (DD) or date of death string (DDS) as reference data.
Where an exact match on Given Names is required, the full name of the customer must be entered (including middle names).
1. Death Certificate validation
A Data Set that provides an exact match on all match fields as captured from a Death Certificate. This data set may be used to validate a death registration record exists when a death certificate is supplied to an agency from the next of kin / deceased estate.

3. Exact Name and Partial DOB
A Data Set that provides an exact match on names, and a partial match on the date of birth (e.g. year only). For this data set, the full ‘date of birth’ will also be returned as reference data.
